ABOUT US
The Noah Initiative identifies young men who are at a higher risk of entering negative behaviour or being a victim of crime. We look at a number of features such as household income, standard of living and parental responsibility. But, more than the negatives, we assess the young men on their achievements, their attitude and their motivation. We look for those who can, and will, be the future of the communities of which they part.
Once we have selected a young man who qualifies for our program, we assign them to a ‘hub’. A hub is a group of up to 25 youths, located in a specific geographical area. Each hub has a coordinator, a young man, who then becomes a role model to them.
We take the youths in our program on to either secondary school and then vocational training or apprenticeships. It is our aim, through education, mentorship and discipleship of these young men, to break the chains of poverty, crime and fatherlessness that have gripped a generation.
In Africa there is saying ‘It takes a village to raise a child!’
This is a statement which, as an organization, we believe in whole heartedly. That’s why we incorporate awareness and community activism as a part of our work. We take time to raise awareness of the importance of the ‘boy child’ within the communities that we work with, so much energy has been put into developing girls, that unfortunately boys rights, are beginning to be neglected. We also host talks on a number of topics all the way from, ‘a positive attitude toward Maths’ to ‘the importance of peaceful elections’.
We partner with many organizations, both government and private institutions, such as schools, universities, colleges and rehabilitation centres.
As well as working with the young men in the locations within our jurisdiction, we also work with their guardians and parents (if they have any). All traceable parents or caregivers of the youth that we work with are encouraged to enrol in our mentorship and empowerment programs. They meet every two weeks for training on topics such as gender based violence, agriculture and micro finance. All guardians contribute towards their student’s education; this is done to keep the emphasis on the family rather than on an external organisation. Through mentorship groups, guardians are given the opportunity, and are encouraged, to save, so that they may open a small business or project. The Noah Initiative also provides small start-up projects for them once they have proved themselves willing and responsible. We provide projects such as chickens and ducks so that the families can become self-sufficient. We keep the emphasis on the parent so that they are driven to help their child succeed.
Praise Party is an event that was birthed in 2019 on The Noah Initiative’s 5th birthday. The event is dual purpose, to share the gospel in a free, unique and inspiring way and also to provide a platform for young artists to perform on the same stage as national and international talents.
The Praise Party has had 2 editions and is turning into a focal point for the city of Eldoret. We have hosted such artists as, Evelyn Wanjiru, Eunice Njeri, Mama Kings, Eko Dydda, Moji Short Babaa, L-Jay Masai and our very own Sovereign.

OUR TEAM
The Noah Initiative is a unique blend of staff, working with both international missionaries as well as a local Kenyan Work Force.
OUR FOUNDERS
Elliot Berry the Founder of The Noah Initiative grew in the English Lake District and first visited Kenya as a youth in early 2009. Once he stepped foot in Kenya he knew he would find his home there. He quickly saw the need for mentorship and counselling and returned to the U.K to complete his Level 3 Counselling qualification through Philippi Trust.
Metrine Nandalo-Berry hailing from Western Kenya moved to Eldoret in 2002 where she soon qualified as jounalist working for multiple Kenyan media houses. In 2007, during the Kenyan post-election violence, Metrine took a new career path and moved into the humanitarian field. Having found her professional calling she went on to manage several charitable programmes and projects for multiple International NGO’s. In February 2015 Metrine married Elliot in a colourful ceremony in Eldoret.
THE TEAM
Richard grew up in Testimony Faith Homes and qualified as a Certified Public Accountant by the age of 23. He now uses his niche experience to both ‘crunch the numbers’ and mentor and disciple our students.
Charles is an Eldoret native and has lived and been educated in the city. After graduating high school, he went on to pursue a Bachelor’s Degree in Maths and Physics. He joined The Noah Initiative in 2018 after working at one of our partner schools for a number of years. He adds a huge depth of knowledge to our team, especially in the areas of Education and Mentorship.
Dauglas joined our team in late 2017 to take over the running of Kipkaren Ark. After finishing high school at one of our partner school’s he pursued a diploma in Tourism. Dauglas has been the Youth Chairperson for International Vision Centre (one of the largest churches in our city) for almost a decade. He has brought a huge boost of insight to the organization, especially in regards to Pastoral Care and Discipleship.
Dominic is our youngest member of the team. He was educated and given a home at Testimony Faith Children’s home, after which he pursued a Diploma in Civil Engineering. Dominic adds a lot of fun and life to the office and we would not be able to do what we do without his help.
